The Seven Lakes Lacrosse teams poses for a photo with the Katy Wolf Pack Pirate’s team after a fun scrimmage.

On Sat., Oct. 1, the Seven Lakes Lacrosse Club volunteered their time to scrimmage Katy’s own Special Olympics softball team, the Katy Wolf Pack.  Almost 40 lacrosse players and coaches came out for the scrimmage. “At first the boys were a little intimidating,” said coach Tony Sizemore, “but the longer we played the more fun both teams had cheering each other on.”

“This is one of the ways we want to make the players better people overall,” added Varsity Coach Ryan Villareal. “And what made it even more fun was that the boys were playing one game against Charles Stehr, who was our team manager last year and now plays for the Wolf Pack.”

The Special Olympics team is coached at the top level by a former Katy ISD special needs teacher, Coach Don Wolf. “We’ve played teams from different high schools over the years, and the one outcome that is always consistent is that we all walk away from every game with a heart full of compassion and laughter.”
