Members of Living Stones Church, Katy, spread love and mulch in the Hawks Landing development.

One area organization demonstrated kindness in a big way in advance of the February 17 national Random Acts of Kindness Day.

Living Stones Church, Katy, provided complimentary mulch to 32 homeowners on Saturday, Feb 16. “Mulch Madness” was a way to show kindness and say thank you to neighbors living in the Hawk’s Landing development, which is adjacent to Katy ISD’s Tays Junior High School where the church meets on Sundays.

“Our church is committed to loving our neighbors and serving our community year-round,” said Nathan Cook, the Living Stones leader who spearheaded the project “We want to show God’s love to people in a practical way.”

Pastor Scott Rawlings said that Random Acts of Kindness Day was not the focus of “Mulch Madness.” Instead, the project provided a way for church members to say thank you to their neighbors for letting the church be part of the neighborhood. Plans are already underway to serve more homeowners later this spring.
